25 MARCH 2017
I LOVED putting together this cheese & charcuterie grazing table for a special bohemian themed birthday party.
To decorate the table we used brightly coloured tablecloths, organza overlays and Egyptian scarves, parchment flags and food labels, wooden boards, chalk boards and black slate platters, wine corks in coloured buckets, cheese and pate knives, decorative spoons, a vintage clay wine bottle, wine caraffes and decanters, wooden wine crates and boxes, side plates, colourful paper napkins, a galvanized steel ice bucket and tea light candles in decorative candle holders.
Where do I start?
The main act was the delicious selection of local and imported cheese and charcuterie supported by the all the other beautifully styled eats including blue cheese & fig phyllo parcels, marinated olives, brie with fresh seasonal fruit and caramelized sugar, Walnut crusted goat's milk cream cheese with thyme honey, rosemary & garlic crostini, toasted garlic & herb panini, melba toast, a selection of biscuits, bread sticks, a selection of spreads including chicken liver pate, snoek pate, guacamole, cream cheese and olive tapenade, preserves, roasted & salted mixed nuts, fresh seasonal fruit, dried fruit and delicious goat's milk cream cheese bites with parsley, rosemary & thyme, toasted sesame, poppy seeds & garlic and black pepper & paprika.

This makes me happy! This is what life is about! Cheese and everything that goes with it!
We put together this black, white & silver cheese & wine table for a special 70th birthday celebration.
We decorated the table with a black & white striped tablecloth, black slate platters, chalk boards, silver mirrors, wooden boards, cheese & pate knives, flag picks, food labels, a wooden wine rack, a vintage stoneware wine bottle, carafes filled with wine corks, a glass decanter, a silver ice bucket, side plates and white cocktail paper napkins.
Apart from the huge selection of local and imported cheese and charcuterie we also served blue cheese & fig phyllo parcels, marinated olives, rosemary & garlic crostini, toasted garlic & herb panini, melba toast, a selection of biscuits, bread sticks, a French loaf with a selection of spreads, preserves, mixed roasted & salted nuts, fresh seasonal fruit and dried fruit.
My three favourite elements were the whole Fairview Vintner's Brie with berries and caramelized sugar, the walnut crusted goat's milk cream cheese with thyme honey and the goat's milk cream cheese balls with poppy & sesame seeds.

When my sister, Heidi, was pregnant with her third baby all she craved was blue cheese and red wine, and of course, she wasn't allowed. So when baby Aldrich was born on 11 April 2016 she couldn't wait to invite all our girlfriends over for a cheese & wine, Boksomdaais style! :)
We decorated the table with a light brown & white chevron tablecloth, a light brown suede overlay, a wooden wine rack, corks in wine caraffes, a Nederburg wine box, Nederburg wine stoppers, wooden boards, cheese & pate knives, food flags & labels, a white wine ice bowl, a glass wine decanter and side plates.
She specifically requested a whole Brie with Autumn fruit & caramelized sugar, it was a huge hit!
The selection of delicious cheese included Fairview Cream Cheese with Black Pepper, Fairview Brie, Indezi River Calabash (goat's milk cheddar), Simonsberg Creamy Blue (all produced locally), Havarti from Denmark and Cremezola from Germany.
Once again we included delicious charcuterie from Italy and my sister's favourite, Die Gute Mettwurst, from Germany. :)
We served a selection of biscuits, rosemary & garlic crostini and garlic & herb toasted panini to compliment the cheese & charcuterie.
Additional eats included marinated olives, blue cheese & fig phyllo parcels, fresh figs, raspberries & grapes, dried fruit, roasted & salted mixed nuts, chicken liver pate, cream cheese, tomato chilli jam and olive tapenade.
What a lovely afternoon with our besties!

Cheese, charcuterie, wine and everything that goes with it could very well become my staple diet, I love everything about it and that is why I enjoy putting together a cheese & wine table every single time.
The beautiful home where the event was hosted had an underground cellar with wine racks, heavy wooden tables and wine barrels, we barely needed additional decor.
We started off with a delicious selection of local & imported cheese which included the following: Bocconcini (Italy), matured white Cheddar (England), Simonsberg Camembert, Indezi River goat's milk Gouda, Indezi River smoked Gouda, Edam (Holland), Fairview Blue Rock, Gouda with cumin (Holland), Emmentaler (Denmark), Gorgonzola (Italy), Fairview Chevin with honey, Brie (Denmark), Havarti (Denmark), Fairview Chevin with paprika & black pepper & Simonsberg Creamy Blue.
We also served a delicious seelction of charcuterie which include Coppa, Prosciuotto, Pelate Sotto and Salami Napoli from Italy as well as Brotform Pfeffers from Germany. Yummy!
Together with the cheese & charcuterie we served a selection of biscuits, toasted slices of baguette, melba toast, rosemary & salt puffs, toasted panini with garlic & herbs and bread sticks.
Additional snacks included homemade chicken liver pate (thank you to my husband, Ian!), guacamole, olive tapenade, cream cheese with whole grain mustard, tomato chilli jam, fresh strawberries & grapes, green fig preserve, blue cheese & fig phyllo parcels, roasted & salted mixed nuts and marinated olives.
For a little added decor we used wooden & bamboo boards, a wooden wine rack, a Nederburg wine box, a wine decanter, giant wine glasses filled with corks, a ceramic Blue Stilton pot, cheese & pate knives, flag picks and food labels.
