Durban Lamb Curry Bunny Chow
Spicy Durban-inspired lamb curry with potatoes served as a bunny chow

- 500 g Lamb deboned and cubed
- 45 ml Olive Oil
- 2 Cloves
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
- 1 Onion chopped
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 sprig Curry Leaf
- 2 cloves Garlic finely chopped
- 1 tsp Crushed Ginger
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- 4 tbsp Durban Masala
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/4 tsp Elaichi
- 400 g Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 cup Water
- 4 Potatoes peeled and cubed
- 1 loaf White Bread unsliced
- 4 sprigs Coriander fresh
Debone the lamb if necessary
Cut it into bite sized cubes
Brown the lamb cubes in batches in a hot cast iron pan using a bit of olive oil
Season it well with salt and pepper
Place all the ingredients in the slow cooker
Cook on high for about 6 hours until the lamb and potatoes are nice and tender
Cut the unsliced white bread into quarters
Hollow out the soft centre
Fill it with a generous helping of curry
Top with a few sprigs of fresh coriander
Eat with your hands!
