Aidan is an avid sportsman and one of his favourite sports is cricket so the theme choice for his birthday party was easy!

We used our brand new backdrop stand for the first time today and I think it looked amazing! A backdrop just adds that extra special touch. 🙂

The party was hosted at their beautiful home in a residential estate in Johannesburg.

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ELEMENTS WERE:

  • the cricket backdrop printed by Memory Wall Creations
  • the cool cricket ball cookies baked by Cookies & Treats by C
  • the wooden backdrop stand custom designed and handcrafted for me by Bonkibanki Woodcraft
  • the green grass cupcakes with Fireballs “cricket balls”
  • and the round cricket ball party favour boxes filled with treats

My favourite thing to do when it comes to the eats & treats at a party is to give it clever themed names. We served “all rounder” chicken sliders, beef sliders with cheese, “cricket balls” meatballs and fresh fruit salad as well as popcorn to snack on.

Additional sweet treats included chocolate lollipops and sweets in apothecary jars.

To drink we served raspberry soda in cute glass bottles with cricket ball labels as well as bottled water.

My favourite thing to eat is a beautifully styled cheese and charcuterie board with a glass of good red wine and live music playing in the background. Or the foreground. Writing about food and music (and everything in between) excites me because these are two of the many things that South Africa has an abundance of and it is also two of the few things that really bring people together.

If you are creative and enjoy event styling, cooking, baking, entertaining, live music, festivals and markets like I do then stick around. Here I will share events and recipes, talk about new music, interview artists, recommend festivals, markets, events and eateries, review products and offer catering and décor solutions.

I think out of the box (and in the shower). I draw inspiration from others. I like creating new ways of doing old things. I like using old things to make new things. When you leave here I want you to be informed and feel inspired, excited and a little nostalgic.
