The Amazing Race is an excellent theme idea for an activity party during lockdown because the guests can adhere to all the regulations while still having all the fun!
This is how we did it:
Firstly, mommy Carli invited 16 boys but they broke up into 2 teams of 8 each so at no time were there more than 8 boys in a group.
At the very start of the race each boy received a coloured buff which also served as a mask. 🙂
Then we set up small stations outside at 6 different locations inside a security estate and the boys rode from station to station on their bicycles, following the clues (and social distancing protocol!). The 6 stations represented 6 countries: Britain, Mexico, South Africa, USA, Italy and China.
We also placed hand sanitizer at each station. 🙂
MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ELEMENTS WERE:
- the awesome drawstring backpacks which the boys filled with goodies from each “country” they visited
- the pretty cactus cookies for the Mexico station baked by Cookies & Treats by C
- the Zoo biscuits and old fashioned proudly South African sweets in driepootpotte!
- the The Amazing Race envelopes containing the clues, I love how they turned out!
- and lastly the little Italian pizzas in little pizza boxes!
I had LOADS of fun planning, setting up and styling this whole event and I am sure the boys had fun as well!
