Cheese & Wine for a Special 89th Birthday Celebration

Cheese & Wine for a Special 89th Birthday Celebration
1 Shares

My dear beloved granddad turned 89 and we celebrated this special birthday at home with delicious cheese and wine!

This is a casual (and super yummy!) way of celebrating and it was perfect for our intimate family get together, it allowed us time to sit back and enjoy the food, the wine and the company at leisure.

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ELEMENTS WERE:

  • all the cheese! I love CHEESE!
  • all the wine! I love WINE!
  • (but seriously though) the blue cheese and fig phyllo parcels, they are always the first bites to disappear whenever I cater for events such as these
  • the delicious selection of local and imported charcuterie, I usually get mine from Seemann’s Deli in Centurion
  • and obviously spending time with my family on this very special occasion!

We decorated the table with Afrikaans nostalgia tablecloths, beautiful proteas, wooden boards, wine racks and food flags, among other things.

Additional eats included a selection of biscuits and breads, fresh seasonal fruit and berries, preserves, a selection of spreads such as homemade chicken liver pate and guacamole, dried fruit, roasted & salted mixed nuts, the list goes on… This is basically my favourite way of eating!
