How to Style Your Own 1960’s Flower Power Hippie Party

I had a great time setting up and styling this 1960’s Flower Power Hippie Party for a special 40th birthday celebration at home!

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ELEMENTS WERE:

the beautiful and colourful fresh flowers arranged in a peace sign box, what a show stopper!
the tie dye peace sign cookies baked by Daleen Botes from Prettynice
my VW van model complete with flower power hippie labels, I wish I had a real one!
the tie dye sarong I bought at the Innibos Laeveld Nasionale Kunstefees many moons ago, I knew it would come in handy at some stage
and lastly the snack bowls made from vinyl records, don’t worry, I didn’t destroy any collectables!

We set up and styled a beautiful grazing style table which included a wide variety of delicious eats & treats. For the vegans and vegetarians there was fresh fruit, vegetables and berries, roasted & salted mixed nuts, vegetable wraps and assorted breads with dips such as hummus and guacamole.

Additional eats included beef sliders, local and imported cheeses, charcuterie and a selection of breads with dips and spreads.

This is the way I like to eat!

My favourite thing to eat is a beautifully styled cheese and charcuterie board with a glass of good red wine and live music playing in the background. Or the foreground. Writing about food and music (and everything in between) excites me because these are two of the many things that South Africa has an abundance of and it is also two of the few things that really bring people together.

If you are creative and enjoy event styling, cooking, baking, entertaining, live music, festivals and markets like I do then stick around. Here I will share events and recipes, talk about new music, interview artists, recommend festivals, markets, events and eateries, review products and offer catering and décor solutions.

I think out of the box (and in the shower). I draw inspiration from others. I like creating new ways of doing old things. I like using old things to make new things. When you leave here I want you to be informed and feel inspired, excited and a little nostalgic.
